Charles Gerald Jones

Charles Gerald Jones, 84, of Zanesville, passed away at 3:57am Monday, August 1, 2022 at the Genesis Morrison House Hospice following a long illness. He was a wonderful husband, Dad, and friend.
He was born November 8, 1937 and was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Nashport, Ohio. Charles proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict as a medic. He graduated from Kent State with a degree in Psychology and was a member of Theta Chi Fraternity. He worked as a Psychiatric Counselor for the Ohio Youth Commission and then served as the administrator of the Avondale Youth Center. He later joined Ohio Psychiatric Associates as a Psychiatric Counselor. Charles, was a life member of the Knights of Columbus Council #505, American Legion and VFW. Charles enjoyed fishing, listening to music and playing Walleyball with his friends and was known for his "mean serve".  He especially loved spending time with his family and making others smile. 
He is survived but his loving wife of 48 years Charlotte (Joseph) Jones; a son, Charles J. Jones; several nieces and nephews including a special niece Rebecca (Walt Schmitz) Jones, great niece Olivia Schmitz, and brother-in-law Thomas Joseph. Charles was preceded in death by his mother, Alma Marie (Glahn) Jones; his siblings, Jackie Curran, Patrick Jones, Clyde Jones and sister-in-law Jane Joseph.
Visitation will be held 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Friday, August 5, 2022 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00am Saturday, August 6, 2022 at St. Mary's Catholic Chruch with Father Ryan Schmit as celebrant. Burial will conclude at Mattingly Settlement Cemetery. The Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Zanesville is in charge of the arrangements.
