James "Jim" Harold Thorne, 86, of Zanesville passed away at his residence the morning of March 10th, 2021. He was born on May 31, 1934 in Zanesville, Ohio to the late James Truman Thorne and Stella Baird Thorne.
Jim was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and Kiwanis and he served in the Army Reserves for 8 years. Along with his wife Sue, he established Thorne Plumbing, Heating and Air Conditioning in 1965 and served the residents of Zanesville and the surrounding area until his retirement. Jim was an assistant leader in boy scouts, and he enjoyed building houses with his father for many years.
He is survived by his three sons, Kirk Allen (Andrea) Thorne of Cheboygan, MI., Kristopher Lyle (Nicole) Thorne of Lake Orion, MI., and Michael Blouir (Ann) Thorne of Zanesville, OH.; a niece, Jana Thompson Leech of Annapolis, MD., a nephew, Jeffery Thompson of Zanesville, OH., and 10 grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Margaret Sue Thorne, a granddaughter, Amanda Thorne, his sister, Shirlee Thompson of Zanesville, OH., and a brother-in-law, John R. Thompson.
Friends may call on March 20th from 1-2 P.M. at Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home in Zanesville. Visitation will be followed immediately by a memorial service at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Mark Chow officiating. Burial will conclude at the Zanesville Memorial Park directly after the memorial service.
The family respectfully requests that no flowers be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Jim’s name to Grace United Methodist Church, 516 Shinnick Street, Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
